Sweating is the body’s natural way to cool down and the amount each person sweats depends on their particular physiology. Excessive sweating, also called Hyperhidrosis, is classified as uncontrollable sweating that has no external cause. If you are sweating for no obvious reason, such as physical exertion, anxiety or illness, you might be suffering from Hyperhidrosis.
It is a common condition and can affect most areas of the body, but is more commonly experienced in the armpits, feet, hands, groin or face. In more severe cases, beads of sweat can drip from the affected areas down the body. While most cases of Hyperhidrosis are harmless, it can have a major effect on the sufferer’s confidence and quality of life.
Botox is a prescription only medicine, so you will be asked to attend a consultation before the procedure. This will include discussing your medical history and an assessment will be performed prior to treatment.
The procedure involves injections of the Botox into the armpit ( underarm botox ) It may be slightly uncomfortable but shouldn't hurt. A session typically takes no more than 30 minutes and you can get back to normal activities afterwards. The treatment usually lasts for up to seven months.
