Cosmetically, Botox® is used to inhibit muscle activity, particularly the downward pulling facial muscles, to achieve a lift. The results of Botox are a prettier, happier and fresher look.
If you imagine the skin as a piece of paper, the more you fold it, the more wrinkled it will become. By resting the muscles that are responsible for the wrinkling of the skin, for example the muscles of the frown, the lines appear smoother with further furrows and wrinkles restricted.
Botox is not “all or nothing” as people may imagine. It can be used expertly to soften harsh lines without the surprised or frozen look, toning down the negative appearance of anxious or angry looking brow.
Results can take up to 14 days to be in full effect with a repeat treatment required around three months. Subsequent treatments may result in a cumulative effect, enabling longer intervals between treatments.
